How do students find out who their advisors are?

Hello dear Students,

The purpose of NTHU Advisor System Implementation Rules(ASIR) is to support our students' academic and adjustment, focusing on academic guidance, but also including part of the life and career guidance. We hope that the ASIR will help you to better adapt to NTHU environment, to improve your academic performance, and to think about your career planning. Generally speaking, advisors should be able to provide the following support:

1. Learning support: If you have difficulties in your coursework, advisors will help you understand the content, provide learning strategies, and discuss study plans.

2. Life guidance: Campus life may present various challenges, whether it is time management, stress management, or interpersonal relationships. Advisors will share their experiences and provide ideas or ways to cope with these challenges.

3. Career Planning: What are the career paths? How to choose courses? Advisors can help you think about your career and life.

We encourage every student to contact their advisors if they have any questions about their studies or life. We believe that every advisor will be happy to listen and provide support. However, we would like to remind you that the real experience of the above guidance is related to the personality traits of both the advisor and the student. And it requires close communication and cooperation between the advisor and the student that the effectiveness of the guidance can be maximized. If the advisor feels the need, he/she may refer the student to the NTHU Office of Student Affairs, Division of Student Assistance (Life Guidance), Division of Career Development (Career Guidance), or the Counseling Center for better assistance. We hope that you will make full use of the ASIR and work together to create a fulfilling and meaningful university life.

According to ASIR, arrangements should be made by the student's department/program office. The principles of basic allocation are as follows:

If you would like to change your advisor or have any other questions, please contact the office of the department you are attending directly and make an application.
